Splash Hacks: Editing the Raspbian splash screen

So we've all seen the new Raspbian desktop released at the end of September. I have to say it's rather nice, a "proper grown up" desktop.

You will have also seen that it now uses a splash screen to hide the lines of text that are generated when a Linux PC boots.

Hacking the splash

Now this lovely splash screen can be hacked, the file in question resides in the following location.

/usr/share/plymouth/themes/pix/splash.png

So I made a backup of the file and then created a new file with a new image. I then saved it as

splash.png

in the same directory!

But what did it create....look on in terror!
