Maker Advent
Welcome!
Now in its second year, Maker Advent is 24 days of fun with electronics. I cover Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pico, micro:bit, Arduino but most importantly I cover cheap components that are useful.
2025
The Commodore 64 Ultimate featured heavily this year, as did a pocket computer from the 1990s!
2024
Hacking USB C power into a ZX Spectrum, tinkering with IKEA CO2 sensors, and I reveal what is in my drawers!
2023
For 2023 I introduced the first themed episode "Die Harduino" and dipped my toe into Temu.
2022
For 2022 I upped the production values and ran the usual Maker Advent episodes, and I reviewed The Pi Hut's Maker Advent Calendar.
2021
For 2021 I went with two UK retailers, Pimoroni and The Pi Hut and each day I show off what I bought from them. I didn't tell them I was buying stuff for the videos, I just hit their sites on Black Friday.
2020
2020 was the first Maker Advent and I set myself the challenge of buying £60 of stuff from Aliexpress. It mostly went to plan, some days I had to stretch myself for more items to talk about. But I enjoyed everyday, including Christmas Eve where I accidentally shorted a 9V battery with a solder bridge...oops!
